Ingredients
Scale
- Filling
- 2 cans (20 oz each) strawberry pie filling
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Topping
- 1 box yellow or white cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Optional: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly along the bottom of the prepared dish.
- Pour the strawberry pie filling evenly over the cheesecake layer.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly on top of the strawberries. Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, making sure most of it is moistened. Do not stir.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges. Let the dump cake cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Add whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- Do not stir the layers—this is what creates the classic dump cake texture.
- You can replace pie filling with fresh or frozen strawberries.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
