Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup biscuit mix
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, biscuit mix, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Using a tablespoon, scoop the mixture and form small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a greased baking sheet, leaving space between each puff.
- Brush the tops of the sausage puffs with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown and cooked through.
Notes
- Let the sausage cool before mixing to prevent cheese from melting prematurely.
- Avoid overmixing the ingredients to keep the puffs light and fluffy.
- This recipe is ideal for brunch, parties, or a savory snack.
