Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- Optional garnish: sesame seeds, green onions
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Push beef to one side of the skillet. Add sesame oil, then onion, red and green bell peppers.
- Sauté for 4–5 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic powder, and ginger. Mix everything together and cook 2–3 minutes until well combined and heated through.
- Spoon cooked rice into bowls. Top with the beef and pepper mixture.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of rice vinegar or sriracha for heat.
- Use day-old rice for better texture — it holds up well with stir-fry.
- Swap beef for chicken, pork, or tofu for variations.
