Description

This Apple Snickerdoodle Dump Cake is the perfect blend of simplicity and indulgence! Sweet, spiced apple pie filling meets buttery snickerdoodle cake mix for a dessert that tastes like fall in every bite. With just a few pantry staples and minimal prep, you’ll have a bubbling, golden, cinnamon-kissed treat that’s perfect for family gatherings, holiday dinners, or a quick cozy-night bake. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and watch it disappear in minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box Snickerdoodle cake mix (or cinnamon swirl cake mix)
  • 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Add the Apple Filling:
Spread both cans of apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish.
  3. Season the Apples:
Sprinkle ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the filling for an extra cozy, spiced aroma. Gently stir to distribute if you’d like.
  4. Add the Cake Mix:
Sprinkle the snickerdoodle cake mix (dry do not mix it with anything) evenly over the apples. Cover the surface completely without stirring.
  5. Add Butter and Toppings:
Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top of the dry cake mix. Make sure most areas are moistened for that perfect golden crust.
If desired, sprinkle chopped pecans for added crunch and nutty flavor.
  6. Bake:
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  7. Cool Slightly & Serve:
Let the cake cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. The filling will thicken slightly as it cools, making it easier to scoop and serve.

Notes

  1. For a deeper caramelized flavor, try mixing a few tablespoons of brown sugar into the apple filling before baking.
  2. If you can’t find snickerdoodle mix, use yellow cake mix and add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon + 1 tablespoon of sugar for that signature flavor.
  3. This recipe works wonderfully with fresh chopped apples too—just add ¼ cup sugar and a splash of lemon juice to mimic pie filling texture.
  4. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
